The Seat Reassignment capability allows buyers to change or upgrade an already booked/assigned seat for a passenger post-booking without having to cancel or refund the existing seat selection first.

Step 1: Retrieve Order Details (orderRetrieve)

  • Obtain the unique booking identifier (targetSupplierBookingId / targetGdnBookingId) for the active seat item that the passenger wishes to reassign.

Step 2: Query Available Seats & Pricing (SeatAvailability)

  • Call SeatAvailability by passing the target seat booking ID in the request's reassignmentSeat context. GDN extracts the original seat value and returns the interactive seat map with calculated trade-in pricing (balanceDue).

Step 3: Execute Seat Reassignment (OrderChange)

  • Submit the chosen seat offer ID (serviceOfferId) via OrderChange to execute the seat swap and settle any financial balance or record the spoilage fee.

Step 4: Verify Order Details (OrderRetrieve / OrderView)

  • Retrieve the updated order to verify the new seat assignment and review the modification history record (SEAT_REASSIGN).

Supplier-Specific Business Rules

When executing post-booking seat reassignment under AirAsia (WANO Connection) business rules, specific down-sell and spoilage handling rules apply:

  • Down-Sell & Spoilage Allocation (New Seat Price < Original Seat Price):

If the newly selected seat is cheaper than the original one, the price difference is strictly non-refundable according to carrier policy. The unutilized residual value is retained by the airline as a non-refundable spoilage amount. To reflect this financial logic transparently:

  • During the SeatAvailability query, this non-refundable difference is calculated and returned in the reassignmentPriceDetails.spoilageFee field(with serviceFeeName = "Spoilage Fee").
